Stretching across the length of a building wall in Amsterdam, this mural depicts a fantastical scene where masked figures in ornate costumes walk and dance along the branches of a sprawling tree. Draped fabrics and birdhouses hang from the branches, while brightly coloured birds fly through the sky, weaving movement and rhythm into the composition. The figures—dressed in ritual-like garments and painted in vivid reds, purples, and blacks—seem to embody a timeless performance, suspended between myth and reality.
Created by Spanish artist Skount, Destiny reflects his fascination with masks, rituals, and the hidden layers of human identity. His work often draws inspiration from ancient cultures and folklore, using symbolic imagery to suggest journeys of transformation and self-discovery.
In the context of a neighbourhood wall, the mural becomes more than decoration: it stages a visual allegory about choice, fate, and the interconnectedness of life. It invites passersby to reflect on the paths they walk, and the larger forces—seen and unseen—that shape human destiny.
Name: Raúl García Pereira
Country of origin: Spain (España)
Skount (Spain/Netherlands) is a multidisciplinary artist known for his mask-like figures, dreamlike narratives and richly patterned murals that blur the line between reality and imagination. Born in Almagro and later based in Amsterdam, he began painting as a teenager in the Spanish street scene before developing a visual language inspired by theatre, folklore and inner psychology. His characters — often faceless or hidden behind ornate masks — explore identity, transformation and the many selves we carry within. Active across Europe, Asia and the Americas, Skount has created murals, installations and performances in festivals, galleries and public spaces worldwide. Whether painting a large wall or a delicate canvas, he weaves vivid colours, symbolism and emotion into each piece, inviting viewers to step into a world where dreams, memories and hidden stories take centre stage.

Fixes
The original idea was created by Pila Roca (ES/IT), however owing to health issues she could not complete the production. SAMA team has reached out to Skount (ES/NL) who agreed to develop the unfinished artwork within the colour scheme of the original, but with his own twist on it. The artwork was tagged over the years before being painted over, however we have never fixed the tags.
