Spring Offering

Pauline Quintanajornet, Raúl García Pereira

artwork

On a long brick wall of Burg. De Vlugtlaan, two dreamlike figures appear in dialogue with each other. On the left, a serene female figure with flowing magenta hair releases fish and birds into the air, as if setting her thoughts and emotions free. On the right, a hybrid character with both human and tree-like features stretches outward, sprouting branches, leaves, and vibrant patterns. Between them, colourful fragments float like confetti, suggesting renewal, energy, and exchange. Spanish artists Pau and Skount created this collaborative mural, blending their distinct styles into a single scene of balance and transformation. The use of delicate lines and pastel tones contrasts with the bold size of the work, inviting passersby to pause and reflect. Though painted on an ordinary housing block, the piece carries symbolic weight: it evokes cycles of nature, generosity, and connection between human beings and the environment. In a multicultural neighbourhood, it transforms a plain wall into a poetic space for imagination and community.

Country of origin: Chile

Pau Quintanajornet (Chile/Germany) is a muralist and visual storyteller whose work blends poetic symbolism, social reflection and a deep sense of human connection. Born in Chile and raised in Germany, she carries a dual cultural identity that shapes her sensitivity to migration, belonging and collective memory. Pau began painting in public space as a way to open conversations with communities, often inviting residents to share stories that later echo through her dreamlike figures and organic motifs. Her murals, rich in colour and emotion, explore themes of healing, resilience and the inner worlds we carry with us. Active internationally from South America to Europe, Pau has taken part in festivals, social art projects and exhibitions that merge art with activism. Whether working on large façades or intimate community pieces, she uses her brush to build bridges, turning walls into places of empathy, dialogue and transformation.
